6:26 PM Update

Kidney numbers are continuing to improve. No dialysis today.

Results from CT scan are that the pocket of fluid has not gotten bigger. Docs are not concerned and believe it will dissipate on it's own. White cell count has come down a bit and believe it will continue to do so as the body adjusts to the spleen being removed.

His heart is still in irregular rhythm and will continue to treat with meds. He had a heart echo gram and an EKG yesterday that both report his heart is doing well in spite of the irregular heart beat.

Starting him on blood thinner to prevent blood clots which can be caused from the irregular heartbeat. He had some troubles last time he was on the blood thinners due to a bruised colon but Docs believe this has healed and he should have no problems this go-round.

He was unable to do PT today while they were waiting on the heart echo gram results. Since they came back good he'll be able to resume PT tomorrow. He can't sit up for very long but he wants to. He is following all orders to get outta there.

Had a french dip from Quiznos for dinner and is currently having a cold stone banana split: one scoop of vanilla, chocolate & strawberry with whip cream and a cherry on top. As you might have guessed his appetite continues to improve.

Paul and Kathi,

We are rooting for you both!! It takes a lot of hard work to do what the both of you have continued to do. Just know that Austin is following in Grandpa's footsteps and is eating lots of chocolate cake and ice cream . Emmy is not far behind either. Know that your bill for diapers and pull up's are lessened in your absence. Emmy, I am sure will be potty trained before Austin. Austin wants to say " I love grandpa and grandpa is my best friend". I know he said it before, but guess he really means it because he said exactly the same thing tonight.

We continue our "get well wishes" for Paul.

Paul and Kathi,

Keep up the good work. This update sound much better than a 2:00 AM trip to the Cardiac Care unit. I think that the A-Fid irregular heart beat may be caused by the TLC that Kathi is giving you. Let alone the rest of those women around you. Your heart must be getting to excited. It was 4 months before they put the paddles on me to get me back to sinus rhythm. Not been a problem for four years so you will be getting back to normal soon. I'm sure the cold banana split will settle things down. Deb never gave me one of those goodies. We are pulling for you guys and continue to wish for your total recovery and waiting to hear about the great escape. Our Love Steve and Deb Kirk

Glad to hear some more positive news Paul. We have been following along here since the day it was set up. Thank you Julie for your updates. This situation has given me reason to reflect on our past. Work and Softball. I have many, many great memories that I shared with you, our wifes and friends. Some of them the most memorable in my life. It would be nice to get a group together to reflect (or expand- I could throw it 100mph,etc.) on those memories. I know the girls have some of those same great memories. Get yourself healed up and let's figure out something. Hang in there Kath and "kids".
