5:03 PM Update

Paul's heart beat is irregular again. They moved him at 2:30 in the morning to the cardiac floor and gave him an EKG. Paul called Kathi and wanted her there with him. The cardiologist believes this is a minor condition and they will treat with meds and continue to monitor closely. They are opting not to do the shock paddles at this time.

His kidneys continue to improve and overall are real happy with the progress he's making. He has not had dialysis in quite a few days.

Paul is getting another cat scan on his stomach due to a continued high white blood count. This could be from his spleen being removed and his body trying to adjust or from a pocket of fluid that was discovered on the first CT scan. They were hoping the pocket would dissipate on its own. The scan will tell them if it's stayed the same or has gotten larger, they may try to drain it if it's gotten bigger. They will decide upon a course of action once they receive more info.

His appetite continues to improve. Jen said he usually eats a pretty good breakfast, not much lunch and a pretty good dinner.

We'll update again tomorrow afternoon. Thanks everyone.

Julie-
Just wanted to thank you for all of your updates on the blog. It's good to be able to check on Paul's progress and send immediate positive thoughts and virtual hugs to Kathi and the girls. You're doing a great job keeping us all up to date!

Hello to the Morris Family! Thank you to Julie for keeping us updated. My parents left for Hawaii on Thursday and have already called me twice for updates! I will continue to check in so that I can keep them posted on Paul's continued improvements. My posts may not be as witty as Gene's, but I will do my best :) Much love and prayers to your family.

Hi Kathi and Paul, We've been out of touch this week and are just now catching up with all the news since returning from out of town with Cory to visit colleges and to play in a tournament. Lots of news since our last blog update. We are really proud of Paul for being such a tough cookie. Kathi, you are steadfast and strong. Way to go. The team of family and friends are awesome too.

Our thoughts are with you all.

Lots of hugs,
Marty & Mary Jo

Dear Paul,

When something happens to you good or bad, consider what it means...there's a purpose to life's events, to teach you how to laugh more and not to cry too hard. "I can't do it" never accomplished anything "I will try" has accomplished wonders!

You can battle through this, just keep telling yourself that...it' the best medicine you can take!!!
