Finally an Update! 5:17

Sorry for the late update but I was out today bringing lunch to the other family patient--our Mom. She had a quick day surgery on Tuesday and was under threat from all her loving daughters that she could experience absolutely no complications. Happy to report that all went extremely well and she's at home with Herb taking great care of her.

Back to our other patient...

Spoke with Kari several times today and Kathi once. Things are definitely going better--I can always "hear" it in their voices.

This morning Paul was requesting a root beer float over and over. Kathi finally left the room "looking" for his root beer float and left Kari alone to deal with him. He looked at Kari, smiled widely and said, "After all these years she's finally starting to listen to me." Clearly he's heavily medicated!

Paul also asked Kathi, "Isn't there a canteen around here?" Maybe they sell root beer floats.

He also wanted to know who is giving authorization for "all this stuff." Kari quickly pointed at (blamed) Kathi.

Had his colonoscopy today at 10:00 AM to find out reason for GI bleeding. Minor wound from the trauma was causing some bleeding but will heal on it's own.

The Docs decided that the colonoscopy was enough fun for one day and put off the scapula surgery until Friday or later so he will be well rested for the surgery.

When he arrived they inserted a chest tube to relieve fluids around the lungs, it was removed today!

At 2:00 o'clock today he was given pain meds and he's been OUT since which makes Kathi, Kari & Sarah very happy. They know when he wakes up he'll be looking for that root beer float! They said he's definitely been a "poop" today but in a good way--he's cracking them up.

Joanne left today for home. Reed (Sarah's boyfriend) arrived last night and Rick & Carrie Applegate arrived an hour ago to lend new support. They'll be having dinner out tonight and Kari said it might be a 2 corona night! That is "whoopin it up" for Kari.

Paul and Kathi....you have "strangers " praying for you. We are Nicole Hill's parents and she is a very good friend of Sarah's. Ever since the beginning, Nicole has kept us posted, then Paul's blog site is visited every day, at least twice a day. We have been praying, praying, praying. Even our friends are praying for you all. Seems like Paul is on the upswing now, and we can smile above! Keep up the great spirit, you guys!

We are so glad that you can find some humor today with what you have had to deal with. Bobby said "Hi Hughey". You all are in our prayers. Nick is doing very well at Microsoft and is very excited about moving into his apartment this weekend. He sends his prayers and well wishes too. He was especially upset when he first heard about Paul. He said it didn't matter how well his first week at Microsoft went, with the news about Paul, it was all crappy.
Love to all,
Bobby Morris family

Dear Paul, Kathi and Sarah,
What a small world we must live in - come to find out that Chris, your pool cleaner when you lived in BCCC, stopped over to the house today - I told him about Paul and he also sends his wishes and blessings for a speedy recovery.
Thinking of you and the family,
The Cederberg's

Kari! 2 coronas! EEK! slow down girl! (kiddin') Everyone here at JKPT are sending their love and prayers! It amazes me how special Paul is to so many people and how much he affects the lives of those around him.....

Was great to see Steve and made sure that he worked out for both Kari and Joanne! :-)

Still thinking about you, your strength and family bond is inspiring.

Glad to hear that he is having a good day. Only had a few surguries myself I can tell Paul the meds do something funny with ones thought patterns. If he thinks Kathi is listening to what he is telling her I can assure him that it is the meds. Lets us know how the root beer deal goes. Damn I sure wish we all could take a little of his pain. He has enough to go around for all of Redmond, Woodinville and Kirkland. Paul is the center of everyone's conversation. Was done at the Club Wednesday night and three different tables were talking about Paul. He has touch a lot people and they all are concern about this big hearted guy. We send our get well wishes everyday. Our love and support to Paul and those special ones who are with him every minute. Love Steve and Deb Kirk

We're now craving root beer floats!

What a relief to know the source of Paul's bleeding. Also glad he's got one less tube to contend with. It's nice to see some improvement. What a difference a day or two makes at this stage.

Kathi, you all deserve a two Corona night tonight. The Applegates will be great medicine for you both.

Happy St. Paddy's!
