Monday 9:53 PM Update

The Doctors are still trying to dial in Paul's pain meds. He has a pain patch on but it won't kick in for 24 hours. He is being given pain meds every 2 hours.

They have ordered a cat scan for his stomach due to a low white blood count and once he can hold the medicine down they will do one. Hopefully within the next 1/2 hour. The surgeon said that it is not abnormal for white blood counts to be down after surgery. They believe the cat scan will show that all is well. This is precautionary.

The Docs have not spoken with Kathi further regarding the scapula surgery on Thursday. To clear up the earlier post...Paul is unable to move his left arm/shoulder area due to injuries--not his complete left side. This is due to pain not paralysis.

This has been an extremely tough day for all those down there with Paul as of course it has been for Paul himself. Please please keep beaming positive thoughts and prayers their way.

Towards the end of this awful day the nurse reminded Kathi & all that he is doing so much better than they ever expected when he arrived on Tuesday afternoon. He will make it through this.

Kathi, Sarah, Kari & Joanne are very much looking forward to getting Paul into a restful sleep and returning to the hotel to eat the girl scout cookies that Steve Bruce sent them, lay on the bed and read all the comments that their wonderful friends and family have been posting. Kari said they look forward to that soooo much at the end of every day. Your written thoughts and well wishes are really helping. Thank you.

Hi....please give Paul all my best wishes. Both Sherril Hillis and Jack Mackie told me what had happened. I hope Paul's pain will ease quickly and that he'll be home soon.

Again, Julie, thank you for the valuable updates. God, Paul, wish we all could do something to help relieve the pain. Just know that, after a week, things are healing and it will get better. Kathi and troupe--you are remarkable. Give 'em hell at the hospital--Paul is the most important patient!!! Thinking of you,
Mary

Dear Kathi,

Please know that you, Paul and your family have been in my thoughts everyday since hearing the news and we are saying prayers daily!

I wanted to share with you that I had a spleenectomy back in my youth and although I did not have the broken bones and other complications that Paul is dealing with...it was the worse pain that I have ever had to endure! If I were to best describe it...I would say it would be like giving birth to an elepahant...can you imagine that pain? It was excruciating and it lasted for weeks. It was only half way tolerable when I was highly medicated, but when the drugs started to wear off I was pushing my help button and yelling for NURSE!!!!!!!!!!!

The doctors don't want to over-medicate because that wouldn't be good for Paul. I know how hard it must be watching Paul suffer, but hang in there...he will start having a good day here and there and then soon it will be only good days and the bad days will be gone!

I talked to Al Mundle Sunday and he said to give Paul, well wishes from him too!

I hear that the men's club will be needing Paul's help in running this years Invitational, so he best get going on those good days!

Love,

Jeann & Mark Hannah

It's great to hear that Paul is moving forward in his recovery....Not a day goes by that we do not think about you and your family. This unfortunate accident has stopped all of us in our tracks to reflect on the importance of family and friends and each new day. We send our love and prayers.
