Saturday Night 9:06 PM Update

Just got off the phone with Dave Brown and things are continuing to go well.

The ventilator is off and on which is normal. He was taken of the ventilator this morning and he was breathing on his own for 3 hours. After that 3 hour workout they put him back on the ventilator to let his body rest and then gave him another 4 hour workout this evening. This is standard procedure.

They are hoping that the breathing tube will be removed once and for all tomorrow.

Paul is still on dialysis and they are hoping to go to intermittent dialysis in the next few days.

Dave reported that you can see the progress with Paul. Kari said his eyes are a lot clearer today. I spoke with Dave, Kari, Jen, Sarah & Kathi today and I could hear the relief in all their voices. Things are definately heading in the right direction.

Jen however is upset as it appears that ALL Dr. McDreamy's have the weekends off. Sorry Jen.

Reports are that Dave and Jen will likely head home tomorrow. Joanne and Carry Ore will head home Monday. Carrie Applegate will fly down soon to provide new support.

Thank you again to everyone!

I am so happy to hear that things are going a little better. The support you all have in your family is wonderful, you are blessed. Pual is in my prayers as well as all of you. Kathi if you don't turn gray over this one well you are home free- we will just keep that natural color fresh! Take care of yourselves as well...

Can you please pass onto Kathi that Paul is in my prayers. Mary Gigot and Dave Kenyon passed on the blog address. Thanks. Sounds like progress is being made. And Paul has great family and friends helping him.

I haven't checked my e-mail for a few days and was so sorry to read about what happened to Paul, BUT very relieved to hear he is getting better each day. I enjoyed reading all the lovely things your friends and family have to say and please know that we are sending our love and well wishes to you also.

Julie - thanks for creating and maintaining this blog - it is extremely helpful for everyone!

For some (like me) it is difficult to know what to write on these things, but these messages are helping! It is overwhelming to know how many people's lives Paul touches!

I've been in contact with the family in San Diego every day and it has been great to hear everyone go from tears and worry last week to 'happy dances' this weekend!

Paul - you are amazing! With the love and support of family and friends and your superpower strength there will be no stopping you! Keep up the good work and our thoughts will continually be with you. We love you!
